Schedule regular meetings with your recruiters and set clear expectations for every aspect of their roles. And make sure they meet them! Start with perfecting the basics, and then add or refine duties once things are running smoothly.

Know Your Metrics

If you don’t know your historic success rates, you can’t qualify any improvements. Fortunately, your applicant tracking system probably has plenty of useful statistics, but you need to know what those numbers mean, or they won’t help at all. Take some time to go over the information you have available, and make sure your recruitment team completely understands the data. Then focus in on the information that is most relevant to your business’s success.

Ensure the Right Fits

Every person on your team — craftsmen, managers, staff, or recruitment — needs to work successfully together and be solely focused on your company’s mission. The best way to ensure a good fit is to take the time to properly vet employees before they sign a contract. Perform background checks, speak to references, and require drug testing. Whenever possible, set up a tiered interview process that allows multiple members of your leadership team to speak with high-potential candidates.
